Fly to Rørvik

Rørvik in Vikna is a charming harbor village in Vikna. The fjords, islets and reefs invite you to participate in coastal life. Picture a harbor full of fishing boats, nets and men wearing sou’westers. They have lived off the sea for over 10,000 years.

To get more familiar with this way of life, you should stop by the Norveg Coastal Culture and Industry Center, designed by Gudmundur Jonsson.

Did you know that Vikna is the Norwegian municipality with the longest coastline? It’s 1500 miles long, twisting and turning around 6000 small islands.

Activities in Rørvik

If you want to explore the area, we highly recommend cycling! Head towards Ytre Vikna where you will find picturesque villages and friendly people. Or you could visit Sør-Gjæslingan by boat. This old fishing village has been named a protected cultural heritage site.

There is still plenty of fishing activity along the coast. Some of the fish are turned into the award-winning fish cakes made by Rørvik Fisk.

The highest point of the island and the municipality is Vattafjellet. It is only about 570 feet tall, but it still stands out amidst the flat landscape. The view from the top is spectacular, particularly if you can catch the sunset.
